Research
VENTURE phase 2 trial
Across active weekly-injection dose groups, mean weight reduction was 9.1%–14.7% at week 13 compared with 1.7% for placebo in adults without diabetes. This is a short, dose-ranging result. Original report.
Safety and Limitations
Common adverse events in VENTURE were gastrointestinal. Thirteen weeks of phase 2 follow-up cannot establish long-term safety or a product label. VK2735 had no FDA-approved U.S. product identified at this review.
Mechanism of Action
Dual agonism at glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) and GLP-1 receptors.
